The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, August 2, 2023, brings Ashley admitting a difficult truth — Tucker McCall was right.
Also in this episode, Billy relays Ashley’s plans to Jack and Diane. Summer (Allison Lanier) spends time with Chance, admitting she and Kyle are over, while Sharon cancels a meeting to attend Chance’s picnic. Finally, Devon tells Tucker that Ashley needs to make things right with Abby. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tucker (Trevor St. John) had stayed at the GCAC and discussed their plans. Ashley stunned him by admitting he’d been right that she couldn’t protect her brother. Later, they asked Billy (Jason Thompson) to join them for breakfast.
Tucker slipped out to see Dominic and Devon. Ashley and Billy discussed how Diane would likely try to usurp his position at Jabot. Billy suggested they work together to keep Jack from letting Diane take over everything at their father’s company.
Ashley wondered how far Billy would go to protect Jabot, and she suggested that he push Diane’s buttons. She laid out a plan to save Jabot and their father’s legacy, and she framed Billy as the hero of the family.

Earlier, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) were so happy in their newlywed bliss. Billy stopped by, and he made plans to up the ante on their big plan to dupe Ashley.
Of course, they had to go to work. Once there, Summer showed up with questions about Chelsea working there, and she didn’t love hearing that Kyle and Audra were on a trip together. She told them their son was sleeping with his boss, which left Jack and Diane a bit shellshocked.
They hated that their son’s life was a mess while they were so happy. Ultimately, their marriage was the only thing going right in Jack and Diane’s lives. She worried about finding a new director of marketing since Mariah quit, and Summer returned with the press release announcing Chelsea’s hiring. She let her soon-to-be ex-father-in-law and mother-in-law know that she’d accepted that she and Kyle were over.
Billy arrived at Jabot after his talk with Ashley and warned Jack and Diane that she had asked him to be her Trojan Horse. He spelled out the entire plan for his brother and sister-in-law. Diane pointed out that it was a good thing, though, and she suggested they figure out how to use Ashley’s trust in Billy to their advantage.
Sharon (Sharon Case) couldn’t go on the picnic Chance (Conner Floyd) prepared because she had work. Chance was sad, but when Summer showed up, he invited her, and she just happened to be free.
Once there, she complained about Kyle going on a trip with Audra, and Chance gave her a pep talk, discussing how his marriage and dreams ended too. She realized she didn’t think she and Kyle could overcome their obstacles. He congratulated her on accepting that reconciliation with Kyle wouldn’t happen.
Chance distracted Summer by pointing out some birds, and she was stunned to discover that Chance had been a Boy Scout growing up. They reminisced about their childhoods. Sharon walked up, revealing she’d pushed her meeting back because she felt so bad about turning down Chance’s picnic.
Sharon asked Summer to stay, but she declined, looking on wistfully as she saw Sharon and Chance partaking in the meal. Chance let Sharon know he didn’t want to get in her way at work, but Sharon said seeing him was the best part of her day, and business wouldn’t get in the way.
At the Chancellor mansion, Devon (Bryton James) flashed back to Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) talking to him about Tucker and family. Later, Tucker arrived, and they discussed the possibility of Dominic serving as ring bearer in the upcoming wedding.
Devon admitted that Abby wasn’t happy with her mother, and Tucker said he worked to dissuade Ashley from following her destructive plans where Jabot was concerned and focus on their wedding instead. Devon was surprised to hear that his dad was the voice of reason in the relationship.
He suggested that Tucker tell Ashley how bad the situation was with Abby with the prospect of an Abbott sibling war. Tucker agreed to relay Devon and Abby’s concerns.
Later, Tucker returned to the GCAC and rejoined Ashley after Billy had left. She updated Tucker that Billy hadn’t agreed to help them, but she felt confident he would, and they could save Jabot and maybe even Jack. Tucker warned Ashley that she needed to make things right with Abby.
