The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, December 27, 2023, brings bad vibes and awkward conversations for Tucker now that the Abbotts have unleashed a tornado of bad publicity against him.
Young and the Restless Highlights
Also in this episode, Phyllis tried to make the most of a private conversation with Danny, who (eventually) took the opportunity to lay down the law. Christine made her own bold move. Meanwhile, Michael and Lauren tried to stay neutral in the Phyllis vs. Christine “competition” for Danny. Elsewhere in Genoa City, Kyle did his best to manipulate Audra’s loyalties. And Ashley categorized her relationship with Diane while Devon changed the status on his connection with Tucker. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.
Rejection Time for Tucker
In the wake of the McCall Unlimited scandal that’s, apparently, hit every blog, podcast (including Gettin’ the Scoop with Clarence), and media outlet in the free world, Tucker (Trevor St. John) tried to explain his past (in)actions. Naturally, those answers weren’t good enough for Devon (Bryton James), who expressed major regret over allowing his dad to come over and see Dominic (River and Rainn Ware) for Christmas.
Devon was so DONE — he even broke it down for his father. Ever since Tucker returned to town, he’s messed with Chancellor-Winters and Jabot. His wedding to Ashley (Eileen Davidson) was a disaster and he lied about his collaboration with Aunt Mamie (Veronica Redd). Tucker felt utterly misunderstood but Devon had no time for his excuses. In fact, he no longer had time for Tucker period.
Bizarre Love Triangle
After Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) insisted on a private conversation with Danny (Michael Damian), the singer learned what she actually meant by “private.” She made a serious move on Danny, and it seemed like he was all for it. Ultimately, Danny announced he was planting his feet firmly in the friend zone and would rather forget this impromptu kissing session.
When Christine (Lauralee Bell) arrived on the scene, Phyllis made her exit looking all kinds of smiley and smug while Danny looked a bit shook. As soon as the lawyer and the rock star were alone, they discussed the Phyllis factor and how she wanted to be with Danny. But he didn’t mention the kissing. Was that implied? Later, Danny and Christine had their own “private” conversation. Yes, exactly like the one he JUST had with Phyllis.

As for Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Lauren (Tracey Bregman), the two voiced their thoughts on the Phyllis/Danny/Christine situation to Daniel (Michael Graziadei). At the end of the day, they remained neutral, feeling both women deserved happiness. On the flip side, Daniel was adamant that his mom never travel down a romantic path with his father ever again.
Putting the Hostile in Hostile Takeover
At the Abbott mansion, Diane (Susan Walters) first rejoiced over Tucker’s downfall. Then, she and Ashley had what could only be considered an icy tête-à-tête. Let’s just say, the lesson learned was Ashley does not consider the two of them to be friends, simply in-laws. Got it.
Meanwhile, Tucker was not the only one dealing with his public relations disaster. The typically calm, cool, and collected Audra (Zuleyka Silver) practically freaked out. Sure, her name was redacted, thanks to Kyle. But how long will that last? The young Abbott decided to take advantage of this chaotic time by trying to manipulate Audra’s loyalties.
As a result, he came clean about how he and his family were behind the leaked cover-up. It was time for Audra to pick what Kyle felt was the winning side (his, of course). She wanted Kyle to stop gaslighting her, but he called her out on being a hypocrite. At the end of the day, Kyle was ecstatic he had gotten one over on Audra. Now they were on a more level playing field.
Tucker Refused to Give Up
Things grew more tense when Tucker joined the hotel room conversation. For once, a confident Kyle didn’t let Tucker get the upper hand. Instead, he kept up the charade, letting McCall know he had the perfect Jabot invention to fulfill Tucker’s plan to devastate his family’s company.
Shortly after confiding to Audra that he’s not one to give up, Tucker’s need for a drink and a moment to lick his wounds turned into another chance one-on-one with Phyllis. That is, until Ashley entered the room….
