The Young and the Restless recaps for September 19 – September 23, 2022, feature backstabbing, backtalking, blindsiding, and so much more.
At Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) suggestion, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) clues Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lainer) in on his plan to stage a vow renewal ceremony. Summer delights at the prospect…Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) confronted Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) over the damaging document she found on her laptop; Phyllis denied any involvement; she was not believed…Kyle and Summer’s news brings out their mother’s competitive side. The young marrieds agree that they should put the women on notice.
When Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) asks her if she’s sleeping with Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow), Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) expertly deflects…Nick sings Sally’s praises to Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson); Chloe intuits that Nick is sweet on her boss…Adam puts Nick on notice.
Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) recalls her past dealings with Deacon Sharpe for Talia Morgan’s (Natalie Morales) benefit — off the record, of course…Kyle and Summer lay it all on the line for Diane and Phyllis: if/when one of them screws up, they’re both out of a job…Diane is alerted to Nikki’s presence in L.A.
Nick is put out to hear that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is seriously considering a takeover of Chancellor-Winters — and with the aid of inside man Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), no less…Imani Benedict (temporarily Denise Boutte) worked to convince Nate to rescind his resignation, and he, in turn, put her mind at ease where her ailing father was concerned.
Deacon makes his meeting with Nikki; he surprises her with the revelation that Diane was living the high life while in “The City of Angels.” Deacon intimates that he has further evidence that Nikki can use against her rival, but he insists that she meet him at his place of work the following day; Nikki agrees…Diane has a set-to with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Phyllis; Diane explodes on the latter.
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) worked hard to convince Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) that taking Chancellor-Winters public is what’s best for all concerned; neither are particularly swayed…Nate and Victoria strike a deal: he’ll ensure that she gets majority control of Chancellor-Winters, and she’ll name him CEO of the enterprise. Nate worms his way back into the family fold.
Jack referees Diane and Phyllis. Afterward, Diane admits her trespass to Kyle and Summer and resigns; Phyllis is shown the door as well…Noah Newman (Rory Gibson), Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) arrange a surprise do for Summer and Kyle. The plan to stagger Phyllis and Diane’s arrivals hits a major snag, and both women arrive at the shindig almost simultaneously.
Devon is pacified when Lily assures him that they’ll be able to maintain control Chancellor-Winters…Victor approves of Victoria’s underhanded tactics…Nate and Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) argue…Phyllis and Diane play nice for Kyle and Summer’s sake. The party goes along swimmingly…Victoria makes something clear to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan): she’ll be the one, and the only one, to tell Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) of his true maternity.
