Sharon vs. Phyllis: Who Will Break First After February 28 Young and the Restless?

Young and the Restless Phyllis and Sharon with the Soap Hub logo.Frenemies in a basement: How long can Sharon and Phyllis fake it?
 Comments

Sharon and Phyllis putting aside their decades-long rivalry? In a dark, creepy basement? While being held hostage? Oh, the irony! Yes, these two have sworn a temporary ceasefire on The Young and the Restless, but if history has taught us anything, it’s that peace treaties in Genoa City have the shelf life of a dairy product left in the sun.

A Beautiful Illusion or a Ticking Time Bomb?

As of the February 28th episode, they’re playing nice and even bonding over their shared trauma, keeping the insults in their back pocket, and pretending they can be mature adults. But that can’t last. It never lasts. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Sharon (Sharon Case) without snark and side-eye is like Genoa City without scandal.

How long before Sharon drops a passive-aggressive remark about Phyllis’ messy history with men? Or before Phyllis “accidentally” reminds Sharon of her many, many past mistakes? The tension is there, bubbling under the surface, just waiting for the right moment to explode.

Survival of the Pettiest – Who Will Crack First?

So, let’s speculate: what happens when the good vibes fade, the hunger kicks in, and the reality of their grim situation settles in? Will they turn on each other? Will Phyllis throw Sharon under the bus to save her own skin? Will Sharon leave Phyllis behind if an escape opportunity presents itself?

MORE: See who WE think is holding the gals hostage!

The odds of them working together long enough to get out of this mess are… questionable at best. If the past is any indication, their alliance will last about as long as it takes for one of them to roll their eyes too hard.

Maybe they’ll attempt a daring escape, only for Phyllis to blame Sharon when it inevitably goes wrong. Maybe one of them will fake an injury just to get the upper hand. Or maybe they’ll just scream at each other until their captor (Ian Ward, is that you?) gets fed up and lets them go just to restore their own peace of mind.

Either way, we’re all just sitting back with popcorn, waiting for the moment when their forced friendship turns into yet another epic showdown. Sharon and Phyllis may be many things, but boring isn’t one of them.
