The Young and the Restless recap for Friday, January 5, 2024, brings some big realizations for Sharon after she has a bizarre dream.
Also in this episode, Summer interrogated Nick about why his past relationships failed, while Chance asked Sharon to make a real go of their relationship. Now, let’s dig deeper into what happened.
Sharon (Sharon Case) fell asleep on the patio at Crimson Lights. Chance (Conner Floyd) supposedly woke her up, but Sharon quickly realized she was dreaming. Summer (Allison Lanier) showed up, and she and Chance were clearly dating.
The trio went to the Genoa City Athletic Club to celebrate a collaboration between Chancellor-Winters and Kirsten Inc. Things took on something of a funhouse quality with Sharon finding herself suddenly in the dining room.

Sharon seemed confused at seeing Chance and Summer so clearly together. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) talked to Sharon. Her daughter encouraged her to take charge, especially in her dream and Tessa sang.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) was there, but he went into the jazz lounge where Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) started heavily flirting as Sharon watched on, concerned. Adam (Mark Grossman) told Sharon that he’d merely been her dark temptation and he pointed out that Nick was the one for Sharon. He also noted that Phyllis was Nick’s dark temptation.
Later, Billy (Jason Thompson) talked with Sharon, and he flashed with her to Crimson Lights. She explained how awful it was when Phyllis seduced Nick after Cassie died. In fact, Sharon admitted she’d never fully forgiven him for that.
Soon, Nick and Phyllis walked in together laughing, and Billy asked her to play cards, so she agreed. Later, the foursome decided to reenact Sharon and Nick’s most recent disastrous wedding.
Billy, Sharon, Nick, and Phyllis remembered a lot of what went down roughly five years ago when Sharon revealed Nick and Phyllis’s affair in front of God and everyone. Accompanying the bizarre moment was a sitcom-style laugh track. (Refresh your memory of the not-so-blessed occasion here.)
Real Chance woke Sharon up, and he let her know that he could see himself falling in love with her. However, Sharon wasn’t sure, but Chance suggested that she needed to open herself up to the possibilities. Ultimately, though, Sharon chose to break up with Chance.
At the GCAC, Summer sat with Nick, and she asked her dad why things never worked out with him and her mom, with Sally, or with Sharon. Nick wasn’t sure why she was asking all that, but he let Summer know that he messed things up with Sharon and that things with Phyllis didn’t work out because they didn’t have enough in common. As for Sally, he really wasn’t sure.
