The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, December 13, 2023, sees Nikki take risks as she spirals deeper into the bottle.

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Devon worried he made a mistake rehiring Nate as Abby reassured him. Cole and Victoria met with Michael about Claire’s case. Finally, Heather tried to get closer to Daniel. Now, let’s dig deeper into what happened.

Siren’s Call

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) showed up at Newman Media. Audra (Zuleyka Silver) was full of questions about her seizure and where Claire was. Nikki snapped at Audra, and she wasn’t interested in answering any of the younger woman’s questions.

Ultimately, though, Nikki apologized and told Audra the whole sordid story. Of course, Audra promised to keep her confidence. Audra talked business, but Nikki couldn’t hear as she recalled her terrifying ordeal. Nikki admitted she probably wasn’t entirely over the kidnapping. Audra tried to give her a pep talk and suggested they go out to lunch, but Nikki declined.

As soon as Audra left, Nikki retrieved a flask from her purse and quickly downed the whole thing. (See when she started drinking again at the ranch here.) Soon, Audra returned with food for Nikki, but Nikki said she needed to go home. Once at the ranch, Nikki looked around to make sure the coast was clear, and she drank straight from the bottle of vodka. Victoria could be heard entering the house, saying, “Mom, are you home?” Nikki looked around, scared she’d been caught.

On The Case

At Crimson Lights, Nate (Sean Dominic) was full of thanks and gratitude that Devon (Bryton James) had hired him back. They talked, and Devon told him he was glad to have them back. Nate seemed ready to do whatever he needed to, especially since Lily was gone.

Victoria (Amelia Heinle) showed up, and things were frosty. Nate said hello as he left, and Victoria and Devon briefly spoke. Cole (J. Eddie Peck) walked in, and Victoria introduced him to Devon, Neil Winters’s son.

After Devon left, Cole revealed he’d been able to retrieve DNA samples from the cabin. Victoria admitted she’d been so torn up over worrying if Claire was Eve or not. They vowed to get Claire whatever help she needed, no matter the outcome of the DNA test.

They talked about how haunted they felt over losing Eve and grieving her. Victoria felt the hole in her heart never healed. Michael (Christian Le Blanc) showed up, and he updated them on his meeting with Claire. He agreed to take the case, but Michael wondered how committed Victoria and Cole were if the DNA showed she wasn’t their daughter. For Michael, the whole thing was personal. (Here’s how they hired him to help in the first place.)

Flirty Moments Interrupted

At Society, Abby (Melissa Ordway) greeted Devon. She noticed something was bugging him, and he admitted he was worried about Nate coming back to work after losing both his job and his relationship. Abby tried to reassure Devon things would be fine.

At Daniel’s (Michael Graziadei), Heather (Vail Bloom) showed up to leave Lucy the keys to her new place. She had a coffee for him. The exes talked, and Daniel updated Heather about Lily being out of town indefinitely. Eventually, Heather asked Daniel to join her for lunch.

They went to Society, and Abby and Devon greeted them. Heather talked about her job at Chancellor-Winters, and Devon welcomed her to the company. Devon and Abby noticed the dynamic between Daniel and Heather as Heather gushed about being in the right place at the right time.

As Daniel and Heather ate, Abby asked Devon when Lily would return, and Devon said it’d be a while. At their table, Heather and Daniel had a light-hearted and flirty meal together. Lily called, and Heather looked frustrated as Daniel stepped away to take her call.
