The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, January 16, 2024, brings some big worries for Nikki when she sees her sponsor Seth and he doesn’t seem okay.
Also in this episode, Lauren promised to be there for Nikki whatever she needed. Lucy played parent trap with Daniel and Heather. Danny fell into Phyllis’s trap, and Christine walked in to see them kissing. Finally, Summer worked to cheer up Chance. Now, let’s dig deeper into what happened.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) thanked Lauren (Tracey Bregman) for meeting her on the patio at Crimson Lights. She was full of apologies about her behavior the night before, and Lauren wanted reassurance that Nikki wasn’t drinking again.
The women talked, and Lauren spoke about Fen’s addition. Nikki admitted she’d been struggling, but she resolved to put all that behind her. She’d even attended an early morning meeting.

Lauren talked about Fen’s sponsor, and Nikki had a lot of good things to say about Seth (Brian Gaskill). He’d been there for her with no questions asked the evening before, and Nikki felt good about his guidance.
However, Seth walked in, and as they talked, Nikki noticed something seemed off. Seth blamed it on coming down with something, but when he left, Nikki asked Lauren if he’d seemed okay.
Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant) was hungry, but only a grilled cheese from Heather (Vail Bloom) would work, so she texted her mom to ask her to come over. Danny (Michael Damian) left Daniel (Michael Graziadei) with Heather and Lucy after Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) texted him.
Lucy revealed that they didn’t have cheese in the house, so she and Heather decided to go Elvis style with peanut butter and banana sandwiches. After they ate, Lucy left the room, and Heather prepared to leave. However, before she left, she told Daniel she’d started falling back in love with him.
At the jazz bar, Danny wanted to know what was up with Phyllis. She asked him to play the song he’d written that she’d helped inspire. He went to play, and Phyllis recorded it, posting it to social media with a suggestive caption about her ex playing her a love song.
At the GCAC bar, Christine (Lauralee Bell) saw the video and wasn’t pleased. When Danny returned to their table, he saw the video, too, and he argued with Phyllis over posting it. He accused her of not actually changing like she’d said she did…Danny realized it’d all been an act.
Phyllis wasn’t sorry, though. Instead, she told Danny that he wasn’t comfortable with Christine. He walked over to the bar and ordered a drink, and Phyllis followed him. Danny told her to back off, but instead, Phyllis kissed him passionately, and he responded. Christine walked in, looking horrified to find them in a lip-lock.
At Society, Summer (Allison Lanier) and Chance (Conner Floyd) met. (Remember Summer going after Chance?) She tried to cheer him up, but Chance said he wasn’t doing too bad after breaking up with Sharon. Talk turned to Kyle and Summer, and he tried to cheer her up, which Summer eventually put a stop to.
They flirted and laughed, having a great time. Chance thanked her for saving his career with the new clothes, and Summer asked him to defer to her in everything from then on.
