The Young and the Restless recap for Tuesday, January 23, 2024, brings a realization for Ashley about how to get the truth about what happened in Paris

Young and the Restless Recap Highlights

Also in this episode, Kyle and Summer caught up. Sharon and Chance had an encounter that went well. Jack reassured Diane that she hadn’t taken Kyle’s job. Traci helped Ashley decide what to do next. And Nikki provided surprising support for Claire. Now, let’s dig deeper into what went down.

Awkward Encounters

At Crimson Lights, Summer (Allison Lanier) walked in and bumped into Kyle (Michael Mealor). They were a little sad, but they talked about creating memories for their son, Harrison.

Summer asked about Kyle’s job at Jabot, and he told her he wasn’t in the co-CEO role again; instead, Diane had taken the position. Despite putting on a positive front, Kyle couldn’t entirely hide his disappointment in the situation.

Chance (Conner Floyd) showed up, and Summer had him model his new suit. When Chance went to grab a coffee, Kyle teased Summer about crushing on Chance. Kyle said he was glad to see her smiling again.

Later after Kyle left, Summer and Chance discussed his new job and the dynamics. Sharon (Sharon Case) entered, briefly interrupting their conversation. Things with the trio were somewhat strained at first, but they acted like adults and had a reasonable conversation. When Summer stepped away, Sharon told Chance not to act awkward around her. They reflected on the past and talked about how they were on good terms before Chance and Summer left for work.

The Truth

Meanwhile, at Jabot, Jack (Peter Bergman) assured Diane (Susan Walters) that she wasn’t taking the opportunity away from their son (refresh your memory on how she got the position here). He told her it was her time to shine. However, Diane worried about Kyle’s feelings, especially since he had setbacks in both his career and personal life recently. Jack remained confident in Kyle’s resilience. He felt that their son would learn from those experiences.

They started making out, and Kyle interrupted. Jack left, and Diane talked to Kyle about her taking the job he’d wanted. He told his mom she was sure she’d crush it, but when they hugged, he looked unhappy.

At the Genoa City Athletic Club, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) confronted Tucker (Trevor St. John) at his suite. They talked about their relationship issues, and she accused him of gaslighting her. Tucker laughed in her face about her accusations, and he suggested that she was the one who was rewriting history. He told her to fly back to Paris and ask people at the bistro what had happened that day.

Their heated exchange led Ashley to question her own perceptions. Back at home, Ashley talked to her sister Traci (Beth Maitland). Together, Ashley and Traci considered how they could uncover the truth.

New Bonds

At the psychiatric hospital, Claire (Hayley Erin) woke up to find Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) at her bedside. Nikki offered support and acknowledged Claire’s troubled past. She encouraged her newfound granddaughter to embrace healing.

Claire wondered whether she was inherently evil, which prompted Nikki to talk about strength and the potential for positive change. Claire thought about her life, and she expressed envy towards children with supportive families and contemplated being raised as a weapon. She asked Nikki to tell her about Victoria as a child, and Nikki obliged.

Nikki went out of Claire’s room, reaching for her flask, but she stopped. Instead, Nikki reached out to Jack for help, hinting at a personal crisis.
