Gina Tognoni is leaving her Emmy-winning role as Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless. And now, viewers are learning more information as to when that will be!
The actress joined YR back in 2014 and, recently, she announced that she’d be leaving the top-rated soaps. Michelle Stafford, who originated the part of Phyllis two decades ago, will be returning to the role after she vacates her current gig as Nina on General Hospital.
Tognoni has taken to social media once more to let folks know that, sadly, her time in Genoa City is starting to wrap up. She’s now taping her final episodes this week.
Check out her Instagram post below to see the actress with some beautiful flowers sent to her by show publicist Matt Kane
“Day 1 of my last Week My Heart is feeling the love,” Tognoni posted. “My respect for the craft and the space in which we create is important on every level to me. @mattykane1 My flowers Are extraordinary… like you #jerseystrong”
Many fans believe Tognoni brought different layers to Phyllis and made the role her own, but others look forward to having the original Red back in GC.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
