Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson returned to The Young and the Restless to fix her son’s latest mess – and to announce that she was ready to step down as CEO of Chancellor Enterprises — and to pick her successor.
Jill (Jess Walton) wants Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) to take over her role. Is she making the right call? Almost 4,000 viewers weighed in:
It was awfully close, but a winning 43% of the audience thinks this should be a two-woman job. Jill can hand the reins over to Lily but stick around in more than just the advisory capacity she advertised. They should be co-CEOs. Jill can show Lily the ropes. And see if she is capable. They should also both monitor Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) reaction to the change, and how it affects his relationship with Lily.
Then again, only a slightly smaller 42% believe that Lily has more than proven herself up for the challenge. Sure, she never went to college, choosing instead to be a model. And, sure, she’s done jail time. But we wager the backstabbing world of modeling, not to mention the diversity of people she got to interact with within prison taught her more than any business school class ever would. And, can we all take a moment to remember that Jill’s original qualifications for being a businesswoman were that she was a manicurist… who was very good at ensnaring wealthy men.
And then there are the 15% who worry about Billy’s poor, wittle feelings. His mommy choosing his girlfriend over him for the big boy chair made Billy sads, and no girlfriend worth her salt would support such a slap in the face. Lily should put her own career ambitions aside and insist that Billy be appeased. Stand by your man, Lily – and Jill!
