Is Summer Newman right to be wary of Diane?
Summer is hardly the only person who distrusts Diane Jenkins on The Young and the Restless. Summer’s mom, Phyllis, has literally gone insane from it. But Summer isn’t insane.
And she’s also married to Diane’s son. Kyle (Michael Mealor) would like to be able to trust his mom, and he needs Summer’s support. Is Summer right to keep resisting? Here’s what almost 2,000 voters told us.
Diane (Susan Walters) is fully reformed, a tiny 2% of you is willing to bet. She hasn’t done anything underhanded in weeks! And Jack (Peter Bergman) believes she’s reformed enough to ask Diane to marry him! Summer (Allison Lanier) loves and trusts Jack. She should follow his lead and drop it.
A slightly larger 9% of the audience is willing to give Diane the benefit of the doubt, and think Summer should, as well. Diane is really trying to walk the straight and narrow. She’s come clean about all her past lies, and about her relationship with Jeremy (James Hyde). How many times can she beg for Summer’s forgiveness? If Summer can forgive her own mother on a near-daily basis, the least she can do is offer her mother-in-law the same courtesy.
But a majority 89% is still Team Summer. She is absolutely right. And, unlike Phyllis (Michelle Stafford), she isn’t losing her sanity over it. Summer is going to calmly, and cooly, unearth and expose every single one of Diane’s lies.
She is going to prove that the woman doesn’t love Jack, she doesn’t love Kyle (Michael Mealor), and she doesn’t love Harrison (Kellen Enriquez). She is only out for herself. Oh, and maybe Jeremy. While Phyllis spirals, Summer will focus. She’ll come out the hero in this. Who cares if it ends up costing her her family? Being right is more important!
