Devon Hamilton never really wanted to merge his company with the one his sister is now running on The Young and the Restless. When the deal fell apart due to first Nate Hasting’s betrayal, then Audra Charles’s, Devon told Lily he wanted to pull out before it got any further.
Should he just buy his company back and forget the whole thing? We heard from almost 2,000 of you about that decision.
We don’t really understand how business on soaps works, 6% of the audience confesses. How did Lily convince Devon (Bryton James) that they should combine the family businesses if she doesn’t own Chancellor-Winters — she merely works there? How many shares did Devon get when he sold his company? Is he still running Hamilton Winters, or is Lily? Does Jill (Jess Walton) get a vote about its day-to-day operations? Until we understand that, how can we possibly answer about the next steps?
Devon gave his word, and he can never, ever go back on it, 8% of voters counter. So what if he was lured in under false pretenses? So what if Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) has shown she can’t run the company up to what Devon believes would have been Neil’s standards? Once you say yes to something, you have no right to change your mind. No matter how much the situation changes.
Of course, he should cut and run, a winning 86% have no doubt. This merger has been a disaster since the first day. Even before Nate (Sean Dominic) and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) were exposed, the deal made no sense. Devon is the only sane man standing, and it is his responsibility to salvage at least a sliver of what he and his dad built.
