From con artist to saint – that’s what The Young and the Restless would like us to believe about Chelsea Lawson. She went from trying to kill Rey Rosales and framing Adam Newman for the crime, to conspiring with Victor Newman to beat an attempted murder charge, to kissing Billy Abbott when she knew he was involved with Lily Winters, to browbeating Victoria Newman into telling Johnny Abbott that she was his biological mother to…vestal virgin status.
Young and the Restless Polling
All it took was one suicide attempt, and not only are all of Chelsea’s past sins wiped clean but no one is allowed to so much as mention them again, lest they upset the poor dear. So Chelsea now has a second chance to convince Genoa City of how wonderful she is. But has she really and truly changed?
Pro at The Y&R Con
We’re not buying it, 25% of you are crossing your arms and leaning back, unappeased. This is just another stunt. Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) is a master manipulator. She could see that Adam (Mark Grossman), Billy (Jason Thomspon), Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Johnny (Paxton Mishkind), and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) had hit the end of their rope by indulging her, so she made a big gesture she knew would bring them all running back to her side. She hasn’t changed. She’s just gotten better at faking it.
The Young and the Restless: Who Knows
The problem with cons like Chelsea is that they are really, really good at what they do. That’s why 30% can’t tell if this leopard has really changed its spots, or is just putting on a really good act. This is the kind of thing they wrote the story of the boy who cried wolf for…
Chelsea Lawson: You Win
Then again, 45% of The Young and the Restless audience is buying her act. After all the horrible things she’s done, including raping Billy, stealing money from her best friend, assaulting Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case), kidnapping Connor, and so on and so forth, Chelsea has now turned her back on all that. All she cares about is doing her son’s homework for him. That’s not against the rules, is it….?
