Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor and Devon Hamilton share a child on The Young and the Restless. But little Dominic didn’t happen in the usual way. Devon was the sperm donor, Mariah Copeland was the gestational carrier, and Abby is the biological mother. Originally, Abby’s husband, Chance Chancellor, was supposed to be the legal father.

But then Chance (Conner Floyd) took off on a secret mission. And then he was declared dead. And then he came back and was dealing with psychological problems. Devon (Bryton James) claimed his son, and now they’re a very modern family. But should they consider becoming a more traditional one? Should Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon make their business arrangement a more personal one?

A majority, 67% of you, think this is a terrible idea. Abby is married, and Devon has a live-in girlfriend. And they are both past their cheating days. These two are friends and quasi-family, but they shouldn’t even consider being any more than that. Too many people would be hurt. And they really have nothing in common beyond Dominic. Any affair would be a dead end.

A much smaller 20% of the audience can’t make up their minds one way or the other. Abby and Chance aren’t exactly setting the world on fire, but then again, you don’t see that happening with Abby and Devon, either. Devon and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) are the more interesting match. But if she continues to spend so much time with her sick mother, he may just be at enough loose ends to figure giving his son a stable home is more important than anything else.
