No one can blame Lily Winters for being kind of fed up with her boyfriend, Billy Abbott, on The Young and the Restless. He went from posturing about what an evolved and progressive male he was, taking the #2 spot to his CEO girlfriend, to baring his grinning soul on a podcast which he said fulfilled him.
Young and the Restless Polling
That’s not all — then he chucked both and announced he wasn’t feeling happy every moment of every day and shouldn’t the world be doing something about that. From there, he latched onto a suicidal Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and decided he, better than anyone else, knew what was best for her. Lily (Christel Khalil) suggested that Chelsea was Billy’s (Jason Thompson) newest addiction. Does she have a point?
Y&R: Hard To Tell
It’s difficult for 6% of viewers to figure out if Lily has Billy pegged because, frankly, we can’t figure him out ourselves. He always has some new passion project which he inevitably drops when the world doesn’t spin exactly his way. Is this just another case of that?
Lily Winters: Stand By Your Man
For God’s sake, Lily, 12% of you are rolling your eyes. Why can’t you be more supportive? Why can’t you understand that Billy isn’t like other people? He can’t be expected to work for a living, or be there for people when they need him, or follow the rules of conventional society. Billy is sensitive and fragile and needs to be catered to in a way others simply don’t. Keep pushing him like this, and you might find yourself in exactly the same place as the last woman who didn’t support him, i.e., ex-wife Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
Young & Restless: Poor Baby
A winning 82% agree that Lily is right, but you are still Team Billy. What is the point of being rich, healthy, white, and straight if you can’t lean into all that privilege and live exactly the life you want, in exactly the way you want it? Sure, Chelsea is just another tool for Billy to feel good about himself. But, so what? Hasn’t he earned the right to be this selfish?
