Days of our Lives: Deidre Hall

Actress Deidre Hall is the uncontested queen of the soap genre. The seasoned vet first came on the scene as Barbara Anderson on The Young and the Restless in 1973, before catapulting to fame as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days of our Lives. During her long Salem tenure, Hall’s tackled a rape storyline, losing a son to SIDS, a bold and well-publicized demonic possession, and even a dual role as Marlena lookalike Hattie Adams. Yet, nowhere along the way has it translated to a Daytime Emmy victory, and it’s an absolute shame.

GH’s Jon Lindstrom Deserves A Daytime Emmy

It all seems so easy and effortless for Jon Lindstrom. He has the ability to segue between a cool and controlled psychiatrist, Kevin Collins, and his psychotic serial killer twin, Ryan Chamberlain, like he’s flipping off a switch. Yet, he’s so detailed and precise in his delineation between the two opposing characters. It’s a testament to Lindstrom’s consummate talent. The fact that he’s never won a Daytime Emmy for his work portraying the two roles on General Hospital, which began way back in 1992, is downright criminal.

The Young and the Restless’s Melissa Claire Egan

From her introduction as All My Children’s wild Annie Lavery in 2006 to her current gig as Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless, Melissa Claire Egan has run the gamut from seemingly sweet to crazy to con artist and everything in between. Along the way, she’s proven she’s a dynamic actress, who can rise to any task. She handled Annie’s exploits – murder, kidnapping, etc. –-with flair. And, as Chelsea, she transformed a con woman into a heroine to root for bringing energy to every scene, even when she was delegated to a wheelchair and unable to speak after a stroke. Yet, so far, no Daytime Emmy for her efforts.

As Brooke Logan Forrester, a role she’s portrayed since The Bold and the Beautiful’s inception in 1987, Katherine Kelly Lang has weathered intense rivalries, twisted romances, raucous brawls, amnesia, and a daytime first – falling from The Eiffel Tower. Lang’s delivered on every level, guiding her character from misguided ingenue and transforming her into a strong, powerful lady of the manor. Sadly, a Daytime Emmy trophy has eluded her every step of the way.
