Recently on The Young and the Restless, Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor and Chance Chancellor had some serious talks in a room that wasn’t familiar to viewers, prompting many to worry that the soap’s iconic Chancellor Mansion was no more. Actress Melissa Ordway set the record straight during a question and answer session while on a break at work.
Melissa Ordway On The Chancellor Mansion
After Chance (Conner Floyd) and Abby essentially ended their marriage after he caught her cheating with Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) in what seemed to be a super scaled-down version of the original Chancellor mansion living rooms, fans…well…they freaked out on social media. Everybody wondered what on earth had happened to the set, which features the lovely portrait of the late Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper).
Thankfully for worried viewers, Ordway took to her Instagram stories for a quick Q&A, where she ended up answering questions from what mascara she used (Super Hero from IT Cosmetics, if you wondered) to if Abby and Devon have a future (spoiler alert — they don’t really know yet). However, perhaps the most burning question she received had to do with the Chancellor Mansion.
“Do not fear everyone, there is still the original Chancellor Mansion set,” she revealed. “The set that we were shooting in of the episodes that are airing now — that was like a room inside the Chancellor Mansion.” She went on to explain that those scenes occurred in what was merely a room that Abby and Chance were talking in. Y&R still has the original set that viewers are used to seeing, but they filmed those scenes in another room inside the house.
