Young star Lily Brooks O’Briant both gave her followers an update on her health and shined a light on an important medical issue — something that The Young and the Restless, the show on which she plays Lucy, has been known to do. The actress is battling endometriosis and wants everyone to know how she’s doing.

Lily Brooks O’Briant: A Health Update

“Thank you so much to everyone for your thoughts, prayers & support,” O’Briant began an Instagram post. “I am so very grateful for each of you. My recovery took a little longer than expected because of some bumps in the road & I will need another few weeks to recover 100%, but I’m feeling SO much better & am headed home to LA today.

Giving Thanks

“I am eternally grateful for Dr. Seckin & his amazing team,” the actress continues. “They removed 21 endometriosis adhesions during the laparoscopic endometriosis excision surgery that had caused me debilitating pain, nausea, migraines & more that had affected me weeks each month over the past 3 1/2 years.”

As she prepares to head back home, O’Briant is sharing her enthusiastic gratitude. “Thank you also @endofound & other endo warriors for their dedication to helping women with endometriosis,” adds the actress, who plays the daughter of Daniel Romalotti (played by Michael Graziadei). The actor commented on O’Briant’s post: “Love you. Get home safe, kiddo.” O’Briant credits meeting and learning about Bindi Irwin’s (Dancing With the Stars) personal journey with endometriosis with helping her get well. “Without @bindisueirwin‘s [Bindi Irwin] Insta post about her journey…I wouldn’t have recognized that what I had was most likely endometriosis.”

Lily Brooks O’Briant: You Are NOT Alone

“For those who are reading this & quietly dealing with pain & no answers, know that your pain is real & Keep searching for answers. Don’t be gaslit or brushed off — I was by a few doctors who told us I had an eating disorder or allergies or it was just something I had to endure for the rest of my life — it is NOT NORMAL & I’m grateful my mom was not ok just accepting that this pain was just something I had to deal with for the rest of my life…endometriosis #1in10 @seckinmd @endofound @enpowr_endofound.” For more info on endometriosis, click here.
