The Young and the Restless star Jess Walton recently shared her surprising connection to the recent tearjerker episode of This Is Us — and it points to an incredible time in the beloved star’s musical past.

Jess Walton Reveals A This Is Us Connection

The Jill Foster Abbott Atkinson actress took to her social media accounts to share how she was part of Joni Mitchell’s song The Circle Game, which played a pivotal role in the show’s most recent episode — the second to the last one for the incredible NBC series — which just so happens to claim Walton’s former Y&R co-star, Justin Hartley (ex-Adam Newman), as one of its stars. In the series, he plays Kevin Pearson.

She wrote, “For those of you who watched the episode of ‘this is us’ last night, I was very happily surprised to hear Joni Mitchell’s ‘The Circle Game’ behind a memorable scene. Years ago, one night Joan called a few of us together and we went down to the studio and sang back up chorus on that recording. Great memory and a happy surprise last night!”

Walton’s Y&R co-stars geeked out about learning about her connection to the moving moment. “Omg! That’s amazing. I LOVE that song!!” replied Chloe Mitchell Fisher actress Elizabeth Hendrickson.

Phyllis Summers portrayer Michelle Stafford echoed what many others were thinking when she added her amazement at the blast from Walton’s past, writing, “…um…. Good GOD!!!”

Many fans also appreciated learning about Jess Walton singing part of the song that played behind the tearjerking moment on This Is Us. In the scene, Rebecca (Mandy Moore) was on her death bed. Knowing she may not last the night, her children, including Kevin, as well as her grandchildren returned to say goodbye. As they spent their last moments with Rebecca, they played some of her favorite music by Joni Mitchell, which prompted them to recall one of Rebecca’s adventures — breaking into the grounds of Joni Mitchell’s estate.
