Last year, Camryn Grimes and her fiancé Brock Powell voiced Mrs. Claus and her husband, Santa Claus, in the holiday animated movie Mickey Saves Christmas. Now, the two-time Daytime Emmy-winning Young and the Restless actress is reprising her role as Santa’s better half in a new holiday special.
Camryn Grimes: Mickey’s Christmas Tales
Grimes and Powell are once again playing Mrs. and Santa Claus in a new set of stop-motion shorts. The story picks up where last year’s movie left off. Watch for Mickey, Minnie, and the gang (along with Santa and Mrs. Claus) and everybody’s favorite reindeer, Jingle and Jolly, to jump back into the action.
The shorts first air on Monday, November 27, on Disney Channel and Disney Junior. The content will be available on Disney+ on Wednesday, November 29. Grimes and Powell will appear in the episode titled “Slip N’ Sleigh.” In it, Jingle and Jolly accidentally break Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. Spoiler alert: Watch for Mrs. Claus to give Santa his present a little early. It’ll help save the day because the gift is a sleigh!
Becoming Mrs. Claus
“People who know Camryn’s work on Y&R will be astounded when they hear her as Mrs. Claus because it sounds nothing like [Mariah],” Powell told Soap Hub a year ago. “Mr. and Mrs. Claus are interesting characters because they are a team. Camryn and I very much are, too.”
There’s quite an age difference between Grimes and Mrs. Claus in real life, so how is she able to sound like Santa’s wife? “In voiceover, it’s actually not that hard to add texture to your voice to sound old,” Grimes told us in November 2022. “I just wanted to bring kindness, warmth, and generosity to the part.”
Camryn Grimes: Best Gift Ever
Probably not this year, but some year soon, Grimes and Powell will be able to show their Disney holiday movies to their child. The couple is expecting their first baby in December. “I guess you can add mother to my resume,” Grimes shared in early August when she announced her and Powell’s upcoming bundle of joy.
