Sharon Case turned in a tour de force this week when Sharon Rosales’s ex-husband Nick Newman gently informed her that her husband Rey Rosales was dead on The Young and the Restless. Soap Hub caught up with Case to talk to her about the emotionally charged scenes.

Sharon Case Talks Her Character’s Reaction To Rey’s Death

The actress was on hand along with other Y&R stars to honor Kate Linder (Esther) at the Hollywood Museum which is displaying a tribute to the actress on the occasion of her 40th year on Y&R. Soap Hub chatted with Case on the red carpet to talk about the powerful moment in which Sharon learned for sure that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) was gone.

Soap Hub: On the day Sharon learned of Rey’s death, you were trending on Twitter!
Sharon Case:
I heard that. Several fans tweeted that to let me know.

Soap Hub: How does the response make you feel?
Sharon Case:
I’m so humbled. It feels amazing. I want to say thank you to everyone who made that possible.

Soap Hub: How emotionally challenging and draining were those scenes in Crimson Lights?
Sharon Case:
They were incredibly hard. They took focus and preparation — for weeks. I never say that, but this time it really did. I’m very happy with the outcome…I enjoyed watching those scenes. I don’t tune in for every single scene I do but I did for these. There have been so many great comments from fans on Instagram and Twitter. I want to thank all the fans for posting them.

Soap Hub: When Nick (Joshua Newman) came in to tell you the news, it’s as if Sharon already knew on some level what he was going to say. It was heartbreaking when Sharon asked for just a minute…
Sharon Case:
A lot of the fans loved that line. ‘Just give me a minute.’ It was written that Sharon sensed something was wrong. As the hours went by [and she hadn’t heard from Rey], it just seemed that she was almost sure something was wrong. There was only a tiny bit of hope still in her when Nick walked in.
