Y&R Star Robert Newman Reunites With Primetime Icon Sally Struthers

The Young and the Restless star Robert Newman recently spent some time catching up with his friend Sally Struthers. If you don’t recognize her from her iconic primetime career as Gloria Bunker-Stivic in All In The Family and spinoffs or her numerous other starring roles, you might remember her from her short stint in daytime as General Hospital’s Jennifer Smith.

Robert Newman Enjoys Time With Sally Struthers

Newman, who recently joined the cast of Y&R as Victoria Newman Locke’s (Amelia Heinle) scheming husband, Ashland Locke, took to Twitter to share a fun photo of himself sitting with Struthers in a red booth at a popular Mexican eatery on Sunset Blvd. The two were all smiles for the image.

“Really nice to catch up with my friend the great Sally Struthers last night at El Compadre on Sunset Blvd. What a sweetheart…” Newman captioned the photo, which you can see below.

Although both stars appeared on General Hospital, their time didn’t overlap because Newman was Prescott Harrell in 1985, and Struthers appeared on the ABC soap in 2002. However, these two shared time on the stage together in a production of Annie at the Ogunquit Playhouse in 2019.

Newman shared several social media posts alongside Struthers from his time in the production. He looks decidedly different than he does as Ashland, though, because the actor had to shave his head to portray Daddy Warbucks. Struthers starred as Mrs. Hannigan.

“Sad to say goodbye to Annie, but it was nice to have a few more minutes with the great Sally Struthers before leaving Portsmouth. With my lovely wife Britt,” Robert Newman captioned an Instagram post featuring himself along with Struthers and his wife at that time.
