Y&R Star Michael Mealor Deep Dives Into Kyle Abbott On The Talk

The Young and the Restless star Michael Mealor recently sat down with The Talk to do a deep dive into his on-screen alter ego Kyle Abbott. He teased a bit of the storyline he has coming up with Robert Newman’s Ashland Locke.

Michael Mealor Talks Kyle Abbott

In the clip, Mealor revealed that Y&R swore him to secrecy when they pitched Kyle’s return to him. He said that one of the toughest parts of that time period was not telling Peter Bergman, who portrays Kyle’s dad, Jack Abbott. The actor said that he and Bergman are close off-screen friends.

As for how it is working with Diane Jenkins actress Susan Walters, Mealor said, “It’s amazing. I mean…we’re two peas in a pod. We’re like bandits getting away in the night.” He discussed how it was difficult to play Kyle feeling reluctant to let Diane back into his life during their first scenes together because they got on so well off-screen.

Soon, Kyle and Ashland will face off over Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). Micheal Mealor explained how Kyle having an illegitimate son is a good thing in the world of daytime. “There are the soap opera checklists that you want. You want to swindle someone out of their liver. You want the divorce. You want the illegitimate child. So, I got one.”

Now that Kyle and Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) are back in Genoa City, they will end up dealing with Ashland and his lies about having cancer. “I’m papa bear Kyle now that I’ve been gone for so long, so I’m about to protect this kid with all that I have,” Mealor revealed. “This is my kid.” You can check out his whole interview on The Talk below.
