If you’ve ever wanted Melody Thomas Scott to talk about her career, now’s your chance! The Young and the Restless veteran star is going to sit down with Los Angeles broadcast journalist Pat Harvey, co-anchor at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles for an in-depth interview.
The event, set for Monday, September 27 at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT, is being held by The National Arts Club. Scott’s interview is being labeled as Always Young and Restless. If that sounds especially familiar to Y&R fans, it should. That’s the name of Scott’s memoir. The actress visited Soap Hub last year for a Fireside Chat to talk about her memoir.
Scott has played the role of Nikki Reed Newman since 1979. The actress is the show’s longest-running performer currently on the air. Viewers fell in love with the love story between stripper Nikki and mogul Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). The couple wed in 1984 but the journey for the star-crossed lovers was just beginning. They had two children, Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Nicholas (Joshua Morrow), but they split in the late 1980s.
Even though each moved on to other romances and marriages — Nikki wed Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and was engaged to Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) while Victor wed Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson; Brenda Epperson) and Hope Adams (Signy Coleman) — their love could not be denied and Victor and Nikki reunited in 1998. Nikki was on her deathbed and had one dying wish — to leave this mortal world as Mrs. Victor Newman. Victor got a quickie divorce from Diane Jenkins (Alex Donnelly) only Nikki ended up living after Victor’s love gave her the will to survive
Scott came to daytime having established herself as a working actress in Hollywood, having begun her career as a child performer. She appeared in Marnie, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and she shared the big screen with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. The actress was recurring on The Waltons when she got the offer to take over the role of Nikki. Count on an in-depth interview as Harvey herself is a longtime Y&R fan.
