Eric Braeden revealed his recent health battle.
The Young and the Restless’s Eric Braeden, who’s been playing Victor Newman since 1980, is savvy with social media. Recently, the actor shared with his followers and friends a health update.
“Some of you may remember, I had a left knee replacement about 3 months ago and then developed some prostate/ bladder issues,” Braeden began his post on Facebook. Showing he hasn’t lost his sense of humor, he wryly clarified, “as is not uncommon for men my age (49🙈🙈🙈)!
“Just a few days ago I had an excellent surgeon go in and take out a malignant tumor from my bladder!” Braeden continued. “So, have been a little under the weather, but back in the saddle soon…with a vengeance! Eff all that age stuff!! I’m a defiant bastard!
“Thank you all for your loyalty to our show!” the actor concluded. “50 years, what an accomplishment for everyone involved, especially the writers! Onward and upward!!!”
The Y&R veteran has plenty of support from his followers. Many of them posted messages of support on his page. “Wishing you a speedy recovery,” posted Barbara Irwin, author of The Young and the Restless, Special Silver Anniversary Collector’s Edition and The Young and the Restless: Most Memorable Moments. “I was at the time capsule ceremony and am sorry I missed you. It was an honor to be there…Take good care.”
“You’re a tough man…good for you!” posted Barbara Johnson Fincham. “I’m a young 65 [years old] & just had left knee replacement. I have been in so much pain. I’m going to PT & have been assured the pain will subside. I have watched the Y&R since 1975…and love it!
