Y&R Star Eric Braeden Has A Health Update About His Cancer

It was about four months ago when Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden announced that he was dealing with bladder cancer. Now the beloved star has a health update he wants his supporters to know about.

Eric Braeden Has Great News

The actor did a Facebook Live Sunday evening to share the update. “I want to tell you, I’m grateful for all of your good thoughts and your prayers…and I can tell you it obviously has helped because I had my last cystoscopy two days ago. And that’s when they thread a camera into your bladder and I’m cancer free. They couldn’t find a damn thing. Isn’t that nice? So I thank you for all of your good thoughts. All of your prayers meant a great deal to me. “

For those who are thinking it’s all behind him now, Braeden had some sober words. “Now, this does not mean that it is all over. I need to still do about three prophylactic infusions. That means…it’s called the BCG [Bacillus Calmette-Guerin] treatment. They infuse your bladder with some stuff…but as of three days ago, I’m cancer free.”

Braeden shared his gratitude for his doctor too. “The original surgeon did a great job getting all the cancer out, but I needed the treatment because there were some high-grade cancer cells…in the cancer that he removed.” He also shared that he has another hurdle to cross.

“On Saturday, I had an MRI of the entire area, the kidneys, and the whole low area…just to see if anything spread. So if that comes out negative, then we will do the three BCGs, the three infusions over three weeks, and then I should be free for a while, you know, and every so often, every few months or whatever, I’ll have another cystoscopy.

“So I just wanted you to know that as of a few days ago, I’m cancer free, and that obviously makes me very happy. I’m in very good hands, the people know what they’re doing, and I am very confident,” he said. Soap Hub continues to wish Eric Braeden all the best.
