Eric Braeden, who portrays no-nonsense Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, recently spoke out, giving a dire warning against what he sees as a rise in prejudice against minorities.
Eric Braeden Draws On His Past Experiences To Warn About Today
Before he arrived in the United States where he eventually became an actor, taking the role soap fans love him in today, Braeden escaped Germany during World War II. He took to Facebook to express his concerns about what he sees happening these days in the U.S. and possibly around the world.
“I CANNOT HELP BEING CONCERNED ABOUT THE INCREASING EXPRESSIONS OF PREJUDICE TOWARD ALL KINDS OF MINORITIES! I come from a country whose xenophobic, homophobic, and antisemitic tropes ended in daily and nightly bombing, in the destruction of entire cities, in the cowardly and horrendous slaughter of millions of JEWS and other minorities!” Braeden wrote.
“That destructive orgy was made possible because Hitler first took over the press and all communications, arrested in nightly raids opponents of his ideology, suspended all opposition press, created a mass movement of US AGAINST THEM! The THEM were the JEWS! Arguably the most productive minority in GERMANY since the 1800s! More assimilated in GERMANY THAN ANYWHERE at that time! They had fought hard for GERMANY in WW1! Many were decorated and many died FOR Germany in that war and yet, some n’er do well came along and told millions the JEWS were responsible for the loss of WW1! Thus shifting blame for that disaster on 1/2% of the population!
“The blaming of what ails us on poor people fleeing their destitute countries AND ON JEWS AND ON BLACK AMERICANS (pick your culprit), is eerily reminiscent of the beginning of the WORST DISASTER THAT EVER BEFELL MANKIND! All the minorities I just mentioned have CONTRIBUTED TO THE ECONOMY, CULTURE OF OUR COUNTRY AND THE WORLD, JUST AS JEWS HAD CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF GERMAN SCIENCE AND CULTURE BEFORE THAT RABBLEROUSER CAME ALONG! THE UNDOCUMENTED HAVE WORKED THEIR ASSES OF FOR OUR COUNTRY IN FARMING, GASTRONOMY, MEDICAL SERVICES, SLAUGHTERHOUSES, CONSTRUCTION, etc! AFRICAN AMERICANS FOR CENTURIES WERE THE BACKBONE OF THE ECONOMY OF THE SOUTH!! JEWS ARE AN EQUALLY IMPORTANT PART OF THE NATIONAL FABRIC with enormous contributions in science, academia, and business! PREJUDICE IS BASED ON FEAR, on feelings of INADEQUACY!
“LET US ALL GO OUT AND VOTE! IT‘S VITAL FOR THE CONTINUATION OF OUR FREEDOMS AND OUR DEMOCRACY! The ALTERNATIVE, I ASSURE YOU, IS NOT SOMETHING ANY OF YOU WANT!”
