The Young and the Restless star Camryn Grimes shared an announcement about her exciting new upcoming project. The great news? It will contain an interactive element that will include fans!
The Mariah Copeland actress, who just celebrated 25 years on the CBS daytime drama, took to Instagram to share that she’s planning to start a new podcast called The Soap Opera Survival Guide this summer. She plans to launch it on Patreon for $1 a month, which she’ll donate to charity. During the weekly episodes, she hopes to include an interactive segment that lets fans send in voice questions, which she will answer.
Grimes’s goal is that the podcast adds some fun and frivolity each week along with some deep and personal details. She made the announcement during an Instagram Live appearance, which she later posted to her Instagram account, so she answered questions as fans typed them in, giving them a bit of a preview of the types of things she might do on the podcast.
While it’s not quite the same as Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) new podcast on The Young and the Restless, it does seem as if this instance is something of real-life following fiction. Who knows? Perhaps Grimes will have Thompson on the show and discuss how art imitates life.
Of note during the roughly 20-minute video, Camryn Grimes compared her co-star Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) to James Bond, noting that he’s both a nice guy who’s incredibly interesting. Her comments came in response to a fan question on whether or not she’d have the actor as a guest on the podcast, and Grimes said she hoped he’d be able to come on it.
In another moment, the actress answered a fan question about her favorite Cassie Newman moment. While Cassie’s death was a memorable scene, Grimes had something else that stands out as tops for her.
“For me, I think personally, falling through the ice was really fun,” she explained. “I don’t know if anybody remembers that storyline. Cassie fell through the ice at one point and got trapped under the ice. That was really fun because I got to do my own stunts.”
At the end, Grimes’s new puppy, Burgess, even made a cameo, wishing everybody goodbye. You can see the whole thing in the video below.
