The Young and the Restless star Beth Maitland will soon celebrate her birthday, and the Traci Abbott actress got herself an interesting gift filled with historical detail to mark the special occasion.
Beth Maitland Treats Herself
The actress took to Instagram to share her beautiful new historical Singer sewing machine. Alongside a picture of the decorated beauty, she shared a caption with a few details about the machine.
“Happy Early Birthday to Me,” exclaimed the beloved CBS star. “1919 Singer Red Eye 66, hand crank and it works like a dream!! New oak case and it’s ready to go!! Can’t wait to sew!”
When Singer introduced the Singer model 66, the company claimed that it was the first mass-produced sewing machine capable of a near-perfect stitch. Many seamstresses believed that claim to be right, and it appears as if Beth Maitland is thrilled with the way hers stitches.
Y&R fans who follow Maitland on Instagram know that in addition to bringing Traci to life in Genoa City, she’s an avid quilter. In fact, she describes herself as a “Passionate Quilter at DramaQueenBee Quilt Studios.” The actress regularly shares photos of her quilting projects as she’s creating them, and as well as showcasing the finished products.
Life And Art Collide
While on the soap opera, Traci is a writer — the fact that her portrayer is also creative in sewing likely assists her in bringing out that aspect in her character. Traci is the heart of the Abbott family in Genoa City, and in real life, Beth Maitland creates heartfelt, family heirlooms in her lovingly stitched quilts. You can check out her beautifully restored 1919 Singer Red Eye 66 in the post below. Do you have an heirloom like this in your family? Tell us about it in the comments below.
