Although he’s married Genoa City’s resident therapist and coffee maven, Sharon Rosales, Rey Rosales portrayer Jordi Vilasuso is out at The Young and the Restless.
Jordi Vilasuso and Rey Rosales Out At Y&R
In the April 11, 2022 issue of Soap Opera Digest, Vilasuso revealed that he is leaving Y&R and his role as Rey Rosales. There is no exit date — only that he will be leaving the show later this spring.
The actor joined Y&R in 2018, first appearing in Genoa City on August 17. Since then, he’s portrayed straight-shooting Rey, who ended up serving as one of Genoa City’s finest at the GCPD.
While things seemed good for a while for the Rosales family, at this point, Rey was the only one left onscreen. He and Sharon (Sharon Case) celebrated their one-year anniversary as 2022 rang in, but clearly, the thrill was gone for those two. She continually finds herself occupied with her family while Rey pines for a family of his own. He never got to be a father, and that fact clearly began eating at him as Sharon continually helped put out fires for each of her children.
A soap veteran, Jordi Vilasuso has brought a number of characters to life on daytime over the years. He debuted on Guiding Light as Tony Santos from 2001-2003, and in the role, he won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in 2003.
In primetime, Vilasuso appeared as Eddie Zarouvian on the nighttime soap Fashion House, and then he moved to ABC’s now-defunct soap All My Children as Dr. Griffin Castillo. He was a fixture in Pine Valley from 2010 to the show’s finale in 2011, and he joined the online version of AMC in 2013. Before his stint on Y&R, the actor was at Days of our Lives as Dario Hernandez from 2016 to 2017.
Soap Hub wishes Jordi Vilasuso the best in his future endeavors. He recently took to Instagram to announce a new venture with his wife, Kaitlin Vilasuso — a podcast called Making It Work.
