The Young and the Restless alum Mckenna Grace announced an exciting new project. The former Faith Newman actress revealed that she co-wrote a sequel to a previous movie she starred in.
Mckenna Grace from Young and the Restless to Movie Writer
Grace shows off her range of talent with this project, and it’s clear she’s come a long way since her early acting days as Faith. Grace, who appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Gifted in addition to Y&R, also starred in Lifetime’s 2018 movie The Bad Seed, portraying Emma. The original film styled itself after the 1956 cult classic psychological thriller of the same name.
For the sequel, Grace co-wrote the script with her father, Ross Burge. Barbara Marshall, who wrote part of the 2018 film, also helped create the follow-up. In addition to writing and acting in the movie, Grace will also co-produce with her father, her mother, Crystal Burge, and Mark Wolper.
“When Mckenna came to us with a spec script she wrote, we were blown away with her vision for the next installment and thrilled we could greenlight it and reteam with her and Mark Wolper,” said Tanya Lopez, EVP, Scripted Content via a Lifetime press release. “This is an incredible Broader Focus moment to have such in a talented young star stretch her abilities beyond acting into writing and executive producing.”
Premiering in 2022, The Bad Seed sequel features a 15-year-old Emma, who now lives with her Aunt Angela while attending high school. However, her aunt’s husband begins to suspect that Emma is no typical teenager, and he suggests they send her to boarding school (sounds soapy). Ultimately, Emma finds herself slipping back into her old ways, and she stops at nothing to take down her enemies.
You Gotta Have Faith
Long-time Y&R viewers might remember when Mckenna Grace played Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) daughter when actress Alyvia Alyn Lind starred in other projects. Grace appeared as Faith at times between 2013 and 2015. Currently, Reylynn Castor plays the teen.
