Sharon desperately needs a redemption arc. She’s in deep trouble. She can’t come back after killing Heather on The Young and the Restless, but her mother, Doris, could help salvage whatever’s left of Sharon’s character.

What Happened to Doris?

Doris Collins (Karen Hensel) is still alive and well. Her last appearance was in 2011. As a rebellious teenager, Sharon (Sharon Case) escaped home in a snowstorm. Doris anxiously looked for her daughter and ended up in a car accident that caused her to lose the use of her legs.

Sharon put a lot of stress on her mother. She got pregnant at 16 years old. Doris advised Sharon to give the baby up for adoption, and Sharon decided to go through with it. Of course, later, she ended up raising her daughter, Cassie (Camryn Grimes), and Nick (Joshua Morrow) adopted Cassie. Unfortunately, Cassie died in a car accident.

Doris left Genoa City after the tragedy. She returned when Sharon was arrested for the murder of Skye (Laura Stone). Adam (then Michael Muhney) was convicted of murder. Doris was disappointed to learn that Sharon put his needs ahead of her children.

A Mother’s Touch

Doris convinced Sharon to leave Genoa City with her. She thought Sharon would be better off starting a new life elsewhere, and she’s probably right now that Sharon is in trouble. It would be a good time for Y&R to have Karen Hensel reprise her role as Doris.

Sharon’s mom could help her heal from her tragic past, especially losing Cassie. This is what kicked off her onslaught of bipolar disorder and her murder attempt on Heather (Vail Bloom). It’s also important to note that Doris never met her other granddaughter and Cassie’s twin, Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes).

This could be a pivotal moment for Sharon and her family. She obviously has a complicated past with her mother. But healing from her past could help her move forward. Sharon would finally own up to murdering Heather unless it were someone else like Daisy Carter (Yvonne Zima)—Who could make a comeback.
