On the August 13 episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis sat down, seemingly randomly, and proceeded to give Lily multiple pieces of unsolicited advice at the Genoa City Athletic Club bar. They talked about Daniel, they talked about Billy, they talked about why Lily should listen to Phyllis. None of it made a lick of sense. Unless…
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford — check out how she’s just like us) isn’t happy unless she is working on a big, overarching scheme. Her last one, to fake her own death and frame Diane (Susan Walters) for her murder, blew up spectacularly in Phyllis’ face. Also, it was months ago.
It’s time for Phyllis to take on yet another reckless project and destroy the lives of any passersby unlucky enough to get swept up in her evil nonsense. Oh, hey, look — there’s Lily (Christel Khalil).
Phyllis told Lily how grateful she was that Lily and Daniel had come to terms with the video game Daniel had created. Then Phyllis reminded Lily how well Phyllis knew Billy (Jason Thompson)—as in biblically. Phyllis would like everyone to remember that Billy once loved her. And, in Phyllis’ mind, he always would be.
Lily played along because she is a polite, well-raised person. But she wasn’t really listening to what Phyllis was trying to tell her. We, however, were.
Phyllis, in her own, very Phyllis way, was explaining to Lily that Phyllis would be going after Billy again. And, once she had Billy, they would go after Devon’s (Bryton James) company in order to reclaim Daniel’s video game.
Phyllis is coming after what she believes to be hers, and she was being a good sport and offering Lily a heads-up. Because Phyllis is a giver, can you think of any other reason for that otherwise completely random series of scenes on today’s episode?
