As Young and the Restless‘ Esther Valentine, Kate Linder has worn many hats in Genoa City. She’s been a maid, a therapist, a receptionist, and a coffee shop manager. At the recent Daytime Unites…to end ALS benefit, the fan favorite was asked by emcee Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation; ex-Marcus, Bare Essence) about one of her professions — the one she’s most known for having during her time on the show.
Clean Up Job
Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis, General Hospital) assembled an all-star cast of actors from the soap opera world for Daytime Unites…to end ALS, a benefit held at the Embassy Suites hotel in Glendale, Calif. Linder was asked which was her favorite set, to clean, as Esther, on Y&R.
Linder offered up three choices in response — Crimson Lights, the coffee shop she manages, Chancellor Winters, the business where she is employed as receptionist, and, of course, the Chancellor mansion, home to the late, great Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper).
“Of course, I spent many years living there — I still down half the house, but they forget that,” Linder said with a smile. “I like all three of [those places].”
Check out the video below of Kate Linder at the Daytime Unites event. You can see fellow daytime stars Maura West (Ava, GH; ex-Diane), Jason Thompson (Billy; ex-Patrick, GH); and Trevor St. John (Tucker) seated neared Linder.
Linder gave a big thanks to Grahn for her efforts. “This is an amazing charity to support, and I am really happy to be here. So, thank you.”
Grahn has taken to social media to thank the numerous stars who showed up for Daytime Unites…to end ALS. The benefit raised $71,000 to end the horrible disease.
