On the Thursday, May 16 episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis managed to become unemployed again. She gave her resignation to Devon after giving him an earful about “stealing” Daniel’s video game. That means Phyllis is at loose ends, but we think we know what she could try next, which would help her settle some old scores.
As usual, Victor (Eric Braeden) thinks he’s got his latest situation under control. He’s got Jordan (Colleen Zenk) locked up in his wine cellar. But he realizes he can’t keep her there forever. Jordan realizes it, too. So, she suggests helping Victor out with whatever tiny problem he may have these days. That problem is Jack (Peter Bergman). Victor thinks he can sic Jordan on Jack and get rid of two troublesome birds with one stone. But guess who’s about to prove that three’s company?
Victor can’t imagine that anyone, much less Jordan, could ever dare double-cross him. Or that she could have any agenda that isn’t pleasing him, for that matter. But Jordan is crazy, right? And crazy people do crazy things. Like, go against the great Victor Newman. So, to Victor’s face, Jordan will swear to be his devoted servant. But, behind his back, she’ll work on behalf of her own interests.
Which is where Phyllis (Michelle Stafford — see what’s on her Daytime Emmy reel) comes in. Phyllis may be wrong about most things most of the time…see her impulsively qutting her job. Still, she is not wrong about this one thing: Victor never paid for having Jack kidnapped while they were married, sending in a lookalike in Jack’s place, and having said lookalike sleep with Phyllis.
When the truth came out, Phylllis’s horror at what she’d been through led her to have an affair with Billy (Jason Thompson), which led to the break-up of her and Jack’s marriage. Phyllis would enjoy getting her revenge on Victor for that.
Phyllis is nuts, and Jordan is nuts. Both Phyllis and Jordan think they’re perfectly sane, and the rest of the world is out of whack. This is a team-up made in Heaven, Hell, and everyplace in between. Jordan will tell Victor she’s working for him, and Phyllis will tell Jordan she’s working for her.
And, in reality, they’ll be working together and against each other and against Victor and, oh, sure, why not, against everyone who has ever looked at them cross-eyed. Even Devon (Bryton James) might pay in a round about way since Abby (Melissa Ordway) is still a Newman (barely, we know).
Buckle your seatbelts, Genoa City. It’s going to be a very bumpy ride. And we are going to love it!
