On the Tuesday, April 17 episode of The Young and the Restless, Nikki showed up at the Abbott mansion to see Jack, amid the crisis of Harrison’s kidnapping. Diane tried to be reasonable about the whole thing, but she didn’t look thrilled to see her husband once again drop everything for Nikki.
Obviously, things aren’t going well for Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters) aren’t going well. First, Kyle (Michael Mealor) indicated he wasn’t happy with Diane being co-CEO at Jabot. They never really fully dealt with that because Ashley’s (Eileen Davidson) mental health crisis came up. Then, in the middle of that Harrison (Redding Munsell) was kidnapped.
Of course, the biggest issue is that Jack (Peter Bergman) agreed to be Nikki’s (Melody Thomas Scott) sponsor. Nikki is his ex-wife, but Diane tried to be understanding about it. After all the stress of the past day, and the additional concerns about Kyle at Jabot, Nikki showed up super early after falling off the wagon…again. Diane didn’t seem thrilled to see Nikki. She especially didn’t love watching Jack guide Nikki with his hand on her lower back to the terrace to talk.
Diane has put up with a lot. From Ashley’s huge attacks to Nikki showing up at all hours of the day, causing Jack to drop everything, Diane is starting to seem very on edge. We suspect that Jack being at Nikki’s beck and call might be the thing that sends Diane over the edge, though.
Something is going to have to give for these two. While nobody is doing anything wrong necessarily, we can see why Diane doesn’t appreciate the added complication of all the time and energy Jack is giving to Nikki when things in their own family are so chaotic.
