Vail Bloom, who played Heather Stevens, Paul Williams’s daughter on The Young and the Restless, is bringing the character back to the show. The actress last appeared on Y&R in 2010.
The show confirms that Bloom, a Daytime Emmy nominee in the category of Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Heather, is going to be back onscreen on the CBS soap opera. Actress Lily Brooks O’Briant has been cast as Lucy, Daniel’s (Michael Graziadei) daughter. “It’s a ‘Family Affair’ for Daniel Romalotti when Heather Stevens and daughter, Lucy, return to Genoa City for a visit next month,” a show spokesperson confirms.
Recently, Daniel revealed that his relationships with Heather and Lucy suffered some setbacks due to a variety of factors, including his excessive partying and the resentment he began to feel after Heather’s career flourished. Heather took a job overseas where Lucy’s enrolled in school.
While the pair’s return is being described as a “visit,” it’s always possible that it could develop into something more. Longtime Y&R viewers recall that after Bloom exited as Heather, the role was recast with Daytime Emmy-winners Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca, All My Children) and later Jennifer Landon (ex-Gwen, As the World Turns).
Since exiting daytime, Bloom has appeared in Hollywood Heights, Aspen, the Series, Hello Ladies, The Ghost Beyond, and Overwatch. O’Briant’s credits include being a series regular on the Netflix comedy The Big Show Show, and appearances in other projects including Shark Lake, The Tick, and Life By Ella.
Heather’s parents are April Stevens (Cindy Eilbacher) and Paul Williams (the much-missed Doug Davidson). After splitting from Paul, April went on to marry a controlling and abusive man named Dr. Robert Lynch (Terrance McNally), a dentist. April killed him in self-defense, but Christine (Lauralee Bell) and John Silva (John Castellanos) defended her in court. April was given a suspended sentence.
In addition to Heather and Lucy coming back, fans have seen other favorites return to Genoa City this past year — the show’s 50th, including Michael Damian’s Danny and Jess Walton’s Jill.
