Mishael Morgan has been back on-screen at The Young and the Restless for several months now, this time as savvy attorney Amanda Sinclair. Fans have wondered from the start if Amanda was related to her doppelganger, the late Hilary Curtis Hamilton.
Mysterious Lookalike
Viewer curiosity continued after Amanda made reference to being raised in the foster care system. Is there a familial connection between Hilary and Amanda? What does Morgan have to say about all this? “I’ve seen those comments online,” Morgan recently shared with TV Insider. “I don’t know what the deal is yet, but we’ve talked about it with the show’s writing team.”
There is a myriad of directions the show could go with it — Hilary and Amanda are separated-at-birth twins, they’re sisters, or even cousins. Or perhaps, it’s just a coincidence that they look so much alike. “They haven’t given me an answer that the two characters are related, but, personally, I feel since they look so similar [maybe they are?]. If they’re not related, then what is it?”
One thing that has changed since Amanda’s arrival is that she’s on friendlier terms with Devon (Bryton James) and the people close to him now that Colin’s (Tristan Rogers) scheme to rob him of Katherine’s (the late Jeanne Cooper) fortune has been exposed.
“When Amanda first came on, she tried to be very professional,” Morgan notes. “She knew it was going to be difficult given what she was walking into – as an attorney, she was representing a client that was trying to take Devon’s inheritance away from him.
“She felt she had to have this hard demeanor. Things change when you get past the professional role people play. That’s what’s happening now. Amanda was doing her job. Now, people are seeing different sides to her.”
The question remains when will viewers learn what — if any — connection there is between Hilary and Amanda? Stay tuned to find out.
