Dana Sparks Joins The Young and the Restless
Soap Opera Digest reports that Sparks will debut in her recurring role in Genoa City starting Thursday, January 7. Watch for Dr. Cavett to help Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) recover from her recent medical ailment.
Sparks made her soap debut in the primetime serial Falcon Crest. She played the part of Vickie, daughter of Chase (Robert Foxworth) and Maggie (Susan Sullivan) on the nighttime serial from 1986-88.
The actress was an original cast member of the NBC soap opera Passions on which she played tortured Grace Bennett, wife of Sam (James Hyde). Grace had a complicated history; she wed Sam after he rescued her from a fire, but she had no memory of her past. She later learned she had a twin sister named Faith (also played by Sparks).
Separated by her family because of lies and mistruths, Grace planned to reunite with Sam and be there for her daughter Kay’s (Heidi Mueller) wedding, but Grace died in a bomb explosion before that happy reunion could take place.
Post-Passions, Sparks took a break from acting, but started up again in 2012 in the film Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike. She recently starred in the Lifetime movie Fatal Fiancé along with Wally Kurth (Ned, General Hospital; Justin, Days of our Lives). Sparks can also be seen in the upcoming TV mini-series Kaljave gume, currently filming.
Sparks’ other credits include playing model Ashley on the short-lived series Cover Up, Jennifer Kepler on L.A. Law, Lt. Cmdr. Carolyn Imes on JAG, and the ill-fated Carol Graham on Melrose Place.
Will Dr. Cavett succeed in helping Chelsea get her health back? Stay tuned to find out! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
