On The Young and the Restless, Cole has his hands full dealing with the mess that his aunt Jordan set in motion. While he’s been a hero on the show, it turns out his portrayer, J. Eddie Peck, is a hero in real life, too.
Recently, Y&R star J. Eddie Peck (Cole) posted a flyer and selfie of him with his golden retriever, Ben, on Instagram, writing, “Shelters around the country will be holding a 10 Years of Clear the Shelters event today, August 10th. Check your local shelter for times. Sonya and I will be at the Castaic Animal Shelter tomorrow from 11:00 to 3:00 if any of you locals would like to join us. Pet Adoptions, Food Trucks, Giveaways. Hope to see some of you there.” The flyer enticed people to join their “pawty” as they tried to find homes for dogs, and Peck has become a huge advocate of their cause. (Learn how Cole and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) got back together.)
That same day, he also posted Instagram pics of himself and a doggie named Milo, whom he had been trying to find a home for, captioning them, “UPDATE ON MILO Thank you all for your heartfelt wishes for Milo. He was on the euthanize list at our local shelter due to overcrowding. The wonderful staff at the Castaic Animal Care Center in Santa Clarita graciously answered our pleas to hold off on his final day.”
Peck explained that he and his wife, Sonya, had taken in Milo and temporarily adopted him until a forever home could be found for him.
Peck detailed how he got to know Milo, further writing, “I visited him a couple of times in the shelter. He was polite, but distracted. It was [obvious] he’d had enough and was wanting a change [of] scenery. The more time we had together during his first day out, the more we grew to love him.” He was happy to have spent the time to find Milo a nice home, stating, “Milo is a gem, just like the staff at the shelter promised.” He described how many dogs and cats that are scheduled to be euthanized are worthy of adoption not just at the Castaic Animal Shelter but at similar ones all over the US.
Fans from everywhere praised Peck and his wife for their work and assured him that Milo would soon find a home. Many of the responses were heartfelt, with one writing, “Oh, tears. This is beautiful. What a good, sweet boy. Bless you and your wife for saving this beautiful soul.” The praise continued as another fan replied, “So happy for Milo and so grateful for the two of you…saving his life and the lives of other wonderful dogs.”
We’re happy for the wonderful work Peck is doing to save animals that are in need!
