On The Young and the Restless, Billy Abbott is worried about fighting for his job at Jabot because his nephew Kyle has designs on it, but Jason Thompson — the actor who plays him — is celebrating a major milestone.
That’s because he was born on November 20, 1976, in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, which means that this talented performer is turning 47 years old today! At 16, Thompson was discovered by a talent scout for male models while performing his duties at a restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta.
Two years later, he was featured in print and commercial campaigns, including one for popular clothing and accessories retailer Gap.
After deciding to pursue a career as an actor, Thompson quickly landed an agent and a number of guest-starring roles on series such as Felicity, Deep Cover, and Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane, and he even landed a three-episode arc on the MTV serial Undressed.
On December 7, 2005, Thompson debuted on General Hospital as neurosurgeon Patrick Drake. Although he was paired opposite many of the show’s female characters, his coupling with Kimberly McCullough’s Robin Scorpio was an immediate fan favorite.
Thompson remained a part of the GH cast until January 2016, the same month and year that he joined CBS’ Y&R in the role of William ‘Billy’ Abbott.
Thompson’s other acting credits include 90210, Castle, the feature films Wishmaster: The Prophecy Fulfilled and Circle, the TV movie Hit Factor, and two short films — Divide and OH BABY.
Thompson has been married to Paloma Jonas since April 5, 2015, and the couple is the proud parents of two children — Bowie Banjo and Romeo Coco.
