Selena Gomez’s Wedding Inspired Cricket’s Gown
In an interview with Variety, Bell revealed the inspiration behind Cricket’s wedding gown. Costume designer Mandi Line conceived the idea of a second gown to be worn during the reception.
Bell and Line couldn’t stop talking about Selena Gomez’s wedding to Benny Blanco. She wore three custom Ralph Lauren dresses. That’s when the ladies decided to do something similar for Cricket.
Line already had the perfect choice for the occasion. But it wasn’t one of the three choices from the fan-driven wedding dress vote. So, they came up with a fourth dress that would be used for the reception party.
“Mandi was like, ‘The fourth dress that we loved so much, that we thought might be a little too casual as a contender, what do you think about switching into a reception dress?'” Bell recalled.
“Mandi’s like, ‘Go to bed and think about it.’ … It was just a really smart choice. And the fans won’t expect this at all.”

Taking Style Inspiration from SATC
During that time, they developed potential dresses for the viewers to choose from. But then Line had another idea. She thought of the iconic moment from Sex and the City, where Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) tries on wedding gowns.
“I said to Lauralee, ‘Can we have a Carrie Bradshaw moment?'” Line has never been married. But she needed to have “a Carrie Bradshaw moment.”
So, they spent a day at the dress designer Q Bridal in Los Angeles. They gave them the green light to choose whatever wedding dresses they needed to use.
Damian admitted that the process of choosing a tux wasn’t as complex and time-consuming. “I had like six layers of Spanx on. Nobody cares about my Tom Ford tux,” he joked. From the moment he tried it on, he knew it was the one, as it had a pin on Danny’s label, which featured a diamond “C” for Christine/Cricket.
