Kyle’s baby drama is about to heat up in light of a new casting announcement. Soap opera veteran Richard Burgi, last seen as murderous Paul Hornsby on General Hospital, is coming to The Young and the Restless.

Richard Burgi To Play Ashland Locke

Deadline broke the news that Burgi has been cast as Ashland Locke, who is described as “an uber-successful tycoon with a reputation for being a shrewd businessman.” Watch for Ashland to lock (pun intended) horns with the Abbott and Newman clans.

As viewers are aware, Kyle (Michael Mealor) recently learned from cousin/frenemy Theo (Tyler Johnson) that he had fathered a son with Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner), Ashland’s wife. Watch for Burgi to make his Genoa City debut on Thursday, March 11.

Daytime fans recall Burgi has a long history in daytime. In addition to his recent serial murderer turn on GH, he played the role of Chad Rollo on Another World in 1988. Then, he popped up as Randy on One Life to Live in 1988. Next was a turn as murderous but charming Glenn Harrington on As the World Turns. The actor moved out to the west coast and did a turn as Phillip Collier on Days of our Lives from 1992-93.

Burgi’s spent many years working in primetime, too, guest-starring on shows including Seinfeld, Touched By An Angel, CSI, Providence, and Shark. The actor recurred on the series Desperate Housewives, Las Vegas, Judging Amy, and The District. He starred on One West Waikiki and the short-lived serial drama Pointe Pleasant.

As his many fans already appreciate, Burgi’s known for playing powerful, strong men. How might Ashland respond to discovering (if he doesn’t already know) that Kyle is his son’s biological dad? All hell might break loose in Genoa City!

It’s also possible that Ashland could stick around long enough to find a new love interest on the show. Could YR pair him with Ashley (Eileen Davidson) or one of the other eligible (or not so eligible) ladies in Genoa City? Tune in to find out! The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
