When Phyllis first arrived on The Young and the Restless in October of 1994, she was already obviously a nutcase. Phyllis had fixated on Danny and decided to have him for herself. Who cared that he was married? Who cared that the baby she claimed was his wasn’t? Phyllis wanted Danny, and Phyllis would do anything to get what she wanted. This included lying, blackmail, and, yeah, even murder.
Thirty years later, Phyllis is still Phyllis. She is still unhinged and obsessed. And now it’s Billy’s turn to be her target, and her actions with him on the September 19 episode worried us.
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) defenders may point out that Phyllis and Danny (Michael Damian) have long since made up. They even spent New Year’s Eve together. She isn’t the crazy woman she once was, and if Danny, of all people, can accept that, so should everybody else.
So…Phyllis isn’t a grudge-holding psycho anymore? May I direct your attention to Exhibit #962: Diane (Susan Walters). Phyllis was so determined to discredit Diane in Jack’s (Peter Bergman) that she FAKED HER OWN DEATH AND KILLED A MAN. Sure sounds like the same old Phyllis to us. Of course, she told Lily (Christel Khalil) that pointing that out was “uncalled for” on today’s episode, but we think maybe it was called for.
So, who will be Phyllis’ next obsession? Isn’t it obvious? Did you see how she was foaming at the mouth today when it came to Lily (Christel Khalil)? Obviously, Phyllis has turned her crazy onto Billy (Jason Thompson).
Phyllis has decided that she is the only one who understands him and is the only one who can save him. But only if he does what she says. And only if no one gets between them. Lily had better duck and cover if she knows what’s good for her. Or, at least, consult with Diane. And Christine (Lauralee Bell). And anyone else who ever stood in the way of Phyllis getting what she wants.
MORE: Get the lowdown on Sharon and Phyllis’ feud.
And none of this even takes into account that Sharon (Sharon Case) is off the rails and likely crashing straight into Phyllis’s family. This probably isn’t a great time to jump into bed (metaphorically or not) with Phyllis, so Billy should watch out.
