Phyllis is softening and unfolding. Fans have seen a different side to her on The Young and the Restless. If she’s willing, she could experience significant character growth.
Finally, Growing Up?
During the New Year’s Eve episode, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) exhibited some growth. She didn’t have a wild night out or do anything crazy in the presence of Christine (Lauralee Bell) and Danny (Michael Damian). Rather, she talked with her kids, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) and Summer (Allison Lanier), at the bar.
It was appropriate since they had a rough year. During their conversation, Phyllis shared a shocking revelation. She admitted wanting what was best for Sharon (Sharon Case). She no longer believes that Sharon was the one who tried to run her off the road and murdered Heather (Vail Bloom).
Phyllis was willing to right her wrongs. She wants to move past her complicated history with Sharon. Currently, Phyllis is focused on getting justice for Daniel and Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Briant). Y&R fans may see more of this side to her.

Hero’s Journey
Ian (Ray Wise) believes Sharon is dead, while Jordan (Colleen Zenk) has her tied up somewhere. In short, Sharon’s nightmare isn’t over. Since Phyllis wants to crack the case, it’s possible that she could end up rescuing Sharon.
As a result, Phyllis could get her redemption arc. She could finally be seen as a hero in the eyes of Genoa City. This could also put an end to her ongoing rivalry with Sharon. It would be a nice change of pace for her character.
This character growth is decades in the making since Phyllis is not the type of person who easily makes amends. But this could have a positive outcome for her. Maybe she would finally get her friends Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Lauren (Tracey Bregman) back too.
