On the Monday, February 3 episode of The Young and the Restless, Damian isn’t who he seemed, after all. He’s not Nate’s half-brother and Amy Lewis’s son. He’s actually a man named Holden, who’s working with the real Damian, played by Jermaine Rivers. Nathan Owens shared what fans can expect from this mysterious new character.
Shocking Y&R Twist
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Owens talked about the twist that viewers didn’t see coming. He even had no idea that he was would end up with a different role. “I pretty much found out when I found out I got the job, but not when I was auditioning for it,” Owens explained. Shortly thereafter, producers told him that they “wanted to go a different route” with his casting. “I got a call about another option, about being the right-hand man of Damian.”
Owens exclaimed that he was “over the moon” about this new character. He took it as a compliment since the entertainment industry can be tough to break into. Owens figured that producers “just liked me and what I did, and they just wanted to find a spot for me on the show.” The hunky actor teased that he will get “heartstrings” pulling. That’s when Owens shifted his focus to how this man would act.
“As an actor, I thought a lot about, ‘Okay, what would this boss [Damian] be like, and how would I act as if I was Damian in front of Nate Hastings versus who I am as Holden?'” Owens explained. He wanted to add “a little bit more swag” to his alter-ego and change “a bit more tone in my voice.” Owens teased that Y&R fans will see “Holden come alive as this progresses.” Also, more of Damian’s and Holden’s story will continue to unfold on the show, including how they started working together. Holden will slowly come out of his shell and reveal himself.

What To Expect
Owens explained what fans can expect from Holden. He described him as a “very, very charismatic man.” It’s obvious that Holden is easy on the eyes. Some might fall in love with him. Owens teased that Holden is a bit of a ladies’ man who enjoys drinking. “I don’t want to say a Lothario, but he’s a charming dude, and he’s very single,” Owens teased.
He wanted to add some “mysterious darkness” to his role in the meantime. It’s still new to the soap actor. Owens is learning new things about the character every day. He’s ready to go as “deep” and “dark” as the show wants to go. For now, Owens is just happy that his secret is out.
“I’m a terrible secret-keeper. I’ve done a pretty good job, though!” he noted. As for what else Y&R fans can expect from Holden, the actor added, “I would want to tell the fans that they will soon learn that my character has a past with someone in town. And maybe a certain lady.” It sounds like there are a lot of layers to this storyline. Holden will continue to take us on more shocking twists and turns. Find out what will happen next on Y&R.
