When Michael Muhney played Adam Newman on Young and the Restless, the character did all kinds of dastardly things. Remember poor Richard Hightower’s fate? A pregnant Ashley falling down the Newman stairs and miscarrying? In real-life, Muhney took the gentle approach when he came up on a helpless animal.
“Last week I rescued a baby deer that had been crying as her mother stood by for almost an hour,” Muhney posted on X, formerly Twitter. “I’d previously named the mama ‘Dotty’ on account of the white dot on her right ear. Sometimes she eats tortilla chips out of my hand. Went over to see what all the fuss was about…
The actor continued, “…the poor thing was upside down and tangled, trapped in some fencing. I gently set her free and handed her over to Dotty. Before mama walked off with her baby she stopped and looked back at me, directly in the eyes. I felt her gratitude. It was beautiful. I cried.”
It may be hard to believe but Michael Muhney exited Y&R over a decade ago. The actor was the second adult performer to play the part of Hope’s (Signy Coleman) son, succeeding Chris Engen in the role. Billy (then, Billy Miller) and Adam were driving in a car when it was revealed that Adam was driving the automobile that struck and killed poor little Delia (Sophie Pollono) after Billy had left his daughter alone in his car when he popped into a story to buy some ice cream.
After the car they were in crashed, David Tom was back to playing Billy (now played by Jason Thompson); Adam, presumed dead, was off the canvas for a while and eventually came back as played by Justin Hartley (Tracker). After he exited the canvas, Adam Grossman took over the role of Victor’s (Eric Braeden) younger son and has played the part ever since.
