Michael Mealor, who portrays Kyle Abbott on The Young and the Restless, will return to Genao City soon in a long-term deal. News of his return comes shortly after Kyle’s mother, Diane Jenkins, returned to the canvas.
Michael Mealor Is Back As Kyle Abbott
In its April 4, 2022 edition, Soap Opera Digest revealed that Mealor would reprise the role he started in 2018. The handsome young star left the soap last year when his character went to Milan to live with Summer Newman Abbott (Hunter King) and his newly found son, Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez). The two showed up for Victoria Newman Locke’s (Amelia Heinle) wedding in Tuscany shortly after they married off-screen.
Recently, Michael Mealor popped up briefly as Kyle via video chat with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). Jack gave his younger son the sad news that his other son Keemo had died.
Now, Diane (Susan Walters), who’s calling herself Taylor Jensen, has revealed herself to Jack’s granddaughter, Allie (Kelsey Wong) in Los Angeles, and it’s only a matter of time before Jack finds out Kyle’s mom is alive. Surely sometime after that, he’ll alert Kyle about the shocking news.
It’s unclear what this means for Summer, though. Y&R recently released a casting call for Summer, which may mean that King hasn’t agreed to return to the soap opera as the Newman granddaughter. Currently, the character is working at Marquetti, seemingly loving her life in Italy as Kyle’s wife and as stepmother to his son.
One thing is certain, though. News that Diane is alive will certainly send shockwaves through Kyle’s happy life. How do you feel about Michael Mealor returning as Kyle full-time? Let us know in the comments below.
