Michael Graziadei, who plays Daniel Romalotti on The Young and the Restless, is reportedly returning to the top-rated soap. The actor stepped into the role of Danny Romalotti and Phyllis Summer’s son in 2004 and played the part until 2013, reprising it again in 2016.
Michael Graziadei Returns to Y&R
Soap Opera Digest first reported the news that the fan favorite is on his way home to Genoa City.
Graziadei’s Daniel was involved in several front-burner stories during his Y&R tenure. Daniel’s love interests include Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz), and Daisy Callahan (Yvonne Zima). While Daniel considers Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) his father, his biological dad is a man named Brian Hamilton. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) had lied to Danny that their making love resulted in Daniel’s conception; in reality, Phyllis had sex with Brian so that she could trap Danny into marriage.
Daniel indirectly played a role in the death of Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes). The young teenager developed a crush on Daniel. After he got drunk at a party, she drove the car to take him home but lost control of the vehicle, and it crashed. Daniel survived, but poor Cassie did not. Christine Blair Williams (Lauralee Bell) helped present evidence to the court that showed Daniel was not behind the wheel.
I Love Lucy
Daniel fathered a daughter, Lucy, with Daisy. Interestingly, Daisy’s birth mother is Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown), a woman currently obsessed with grandson Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful. Might Daniel return with Lucy — and could Sheila be far behind if he does?

The last time Daniel was in Genoa City was to attend the wedding of his sister Summer (now Allison Lanier) to Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva). Daniel met Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes), who introduced herself to Daniel as Cassie’s “evil twin.”
Michael Graziadei is a Busy Actor
Graziadei reprised Daniel briefly in 2016. He’s dropped by the set to visit for anniversary celebrations honoring actors who’ve had lengthy runs on the show. Graziadei’s post-Y&R credits include The Lincoln Lawyer, The Rookie, S.W.A.T., Lucifer, All Rise, Watchman, 9-1-1, True Detective, Magnum P.I., Chicago P.D., and Scorpion.
