Melissa Claire Egan received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work when Chelsea was suicidal on The Young and the Restless. Now, the actress is marking a major milestone in her on-screen alter ego’s life.

Trigger Warning: Talk of suicide.

Two Year Anniversary

Egan took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the important storyline two years later. She shared a photo of Chelsea on the ledge before Billy (Jason Thompson) talked her down.

“Hard to believe this month marks two years since this very important episode and storyline,” Egan wrote.” Your messages and honesty about mental health and your personal stories have continued to touch and inspire me. Please always remember that you might feel alone, but you are not. You are so loved, and you belong here. If you or someone you know are having thoughts of suicide, please call 988 or text HELLO to 741741 to talk to a trained counselor, 24/7, for free. One fan replied, letting Egan know how much the storyline of Chelsea’s intense struggles helped her. “TY for this scene as I was telling you last year I was almost at this point and then saw this scene and amazed at how I could related with the raft being so far out and drifting out as of now I have counselor with pet therapy as a help too because she has a guide dog 🦮 so two therapy in one but ty u so much for being real I love u so much ❤️ and If you want or anyone from y and r if they want I will be your tour guide if you come to Vancouver 🇨🇦 🍁”

TV host Erica Olsen also replied. She wrote, “So proud of you and how hard you worked to do this storyline right and address the importance of this conversation ❤️”

Currently, Chelsea is going through another rough time on Y&R after Connor’s (Judah Mackey) OCD diagnosis and her breakup with Billy due to sleeping with Adam (Mark Grossman). She’s navigating it, though, with the skills she learned two years ago when she went through her darkest moments.
